There is always a first page to a good book. Usually the beginning is rather boring. It does however build up to the good part. In 2010 my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I bought our first boat together: a Dehler31. Though structurally sound, she had been left neglected on the hard for 10 years, causing much of the interior woodwork and hull lining to fall into disrepair. Additionally, the enormous task of updating her quarter-of-a-century old German wiring and appliances lay before us. After 5 years of restoration, the Dehler is almost ready to make the move back to bigger waters. In the future, we plan to haul the boat to Kentucky lake, travel down the inland waterways toward the Gulf of Mexico, and head towards warmer climates and truer, authentic living. It’s no so much that we are on the run; rather, it’s that we seek to truly live life through simpler living and the experiences that only travel can bring on The (Pascagoula) Run. So, if you’ve ever dared to live a dream, stay tuned. That is what we are trying to make a reality.
